I wouldn't trip on that guy to hard. He talks trash on all the surfers on the ASP Tour to... he's actually pretty nice to Kelly... and he makes sure to let you know that he talks to him... personally...haha. Kind of reminds me of all the people that have ever worked at magazines that were never actually good enough appear in them based on talent. Suck off the guy at the top so you can feel like your above the people at the bottom. But I got to admit... I read his stuff... it's probably the same thing in me that can't help but watch white trash couples beat each other up on Jerry Springer.

True but he can still fucking suck it dry. We shouldn't be stoked that our legends serve as nothing more than some blogger's metaphor for his disdain of Surfer's Journal's retro coverage. It sure as fuck wasn't Jay Reale wearing tight jeans, 80s glasses, and selling 70's boards for $800 to yuppies who out noob the Blue Crush brigade by damn near a decade that caused this trend.
The most seriously regarded part of the printed surf media are the photographs. The staff photo pages of the big 3 US magazines read like 1998 Explorer Bodyboard results.
